Great art. Whether you like it or not, it's clear that adidas ads are anything but conventional. And the new brand campaign signed by the American creative agency Johannes Leonardo does not prove the opposite. On the bottom of "My Way" from Frank Sinatra, Adidas presents a new craft spot for its new campaign "Original is never finished".
After the first viewing of the spot, we do not really know what to think. It is clear that the realization and the series of references (Snoop Dogg, Birth Venus ...) is impressive. The psychedelic side, which brilliantly mixes past and future, supports the positioning of the brand that tries, with its range "Originals", to reconcile modernity and vintage.
However, the spot still leaves us some impression of discomfort. The transitions from one shot to another are disturbing, and we sometimes have the impression that the video is an apology for violence (witness the group of girls who destroy drones at bat). The video on YouTube contains a lot of negative votes. But maybe that's all the genius of this ad: this mixture of feelings between uncertainty, discomfort, and the impression of having seen despite everything a campaign of incredible quality. An advertising UFO without a doubt.
