Make fashion ecology? It's possible, with the latest eco-friendly fashion novelty: the youngest brand VGTL has created "clean" sneakers, handmade, vegan, eco-friendly and cruelty-free.
The starting idea of the creators? On the project page, they explain :"Offer shoes that are, pretty, ethical, of excellent quality and not too expensive." Designed in France and assembled in Portugal, they are manufactured under ethical conditions and without products from animal exploitation.
We already knew sneakers Veja French, ecological and fair trade, or the Stan Smith from Adidas Vegan by Stella McCartney. But here, VGTL really stands out thanks to its value for money! count 139 euros for a pair.
We wanted to offer shoes that meet the expectations of consumers, in terms of style while respecting our own values
explains Emeric, one of the three associates at the origin of VGTL. Inevitably, the hardest (especially in a sector where "fast-fashion" and "low-cost" prevail) was also of "Stay in affordable prices“.
Because yes, inevitably, the higher the quality is present, the higher the price will be. Despite this, some people find that it is still too expensive. Only, "We can not produce ethical, local and clean, while selling shoes at 20 euros!" Certainly, however, everything still depends on the evolution of mentalities consumers.
Do not forget it. To date, the textile sector remains one of the largest pollutants on Earth. Against this industry, VGTL therefore wishes to contribute to developing a "new" textile sector, which is more responsible; even if the alternatives are still difficult to find.
Certified vegan, and approved by the association PETA these shoes with minimalist and sober design, are portable for any occasion. Timeless, they consist of an insole with natural cork finish. As for the little detail that makes the "leg" sneakers VGTL, it is the underside of the shoe, showing a reproduction of a canvas of Claude Monet. Why ? "The French impressionist was able to showcase nature as never before, and we wanted to pay tribute to him".
In addition to the classic model, the brand has used three artists to create three pairs, ultra limited edition. At the price of 299 euros, they are already sold! Thanks to the enthusiasm of Internet users, VGTL has managed to collect more than 37,000 euros. What allow the brand to launch men's sneakers, 3 different colors and maybe even models for children. And you ? What do you think of this initiative?
